What could this be?

This morning Room Four received a large thick envelope. We had several guesses as to who it may be from. We discussed how we can discover who sent the mail without opening it, all we had to do was to look at the back of the envelope where the sender information was. We were super excited to find out it was from...  SANTA! He sent us a package explaining we are under Elf surveillance. In the envelope we received posters, a letter from Santa and a meet our Elf sheet.

We were a bit puzzled as to why we couldn't find our Elf. Was he/she hiding to well? We came to the conclusion that maybe he/she wasn't going to appear until we named him/her. We all wrote down a name on a piece of paper that we liked. The name with the most votes was the winner.

The winning name was.... Lockie Elfie. Lockie is a child in Room Four!

Once we had named him, he appeared! We found foot prints of magical dust in the classroom and Lockie Elfie hiding in the art area of the class. I think he is hiding there so he can make sure all the children are doing the right thing on the mat. This means they are focusing on the speaker, keeping their hands still and putting up their hands.

We will keep you all updated when Lockie Elfie makes his next move. We all need to be on our best behavior so that Lockie Elfie doesn't report us to Santa! That would be horrible.

Santa Letters

What a wonderful surprise we had when we all received letters from Santa! He is pleased to hear how fantastic Room Four has been this year, he knows we are trying really hard to follow the 3 R's (Respect, responsibility and resilience). Here are some photos of all the excitement.

Candy Crystals!

We are so excited about how our crystals turned out! Sadly some of us had a small hole in the tin foil so all the liquid ran out onto the plate. This meant the water didn't evaporate.

Look what happened when we ate our crystals! They were so yummy but really messy.

Have you figured out what we are making?

Earlier on we posted a picture of a box full of goodies. Did you guess what we could be making?

Here's a clue... it's very tasty but icy cold!

Room four is making... ICE CREAM! We are so excited, this week we are turning breakfast foods into ice cream. Can we eat ice cream for breakfast? Of course we can, (If Mum and Dad aren't looking!)

Get NZ Writing

Room 4 was lucky enough to send post cards to a buddy class. On these postcards we had to write different metaphors and color in the pictures on the back. When we joined all the post cards together, they made one big poster. Below are some of our metaphors and a picture of the end result. Our buddy class in Auckland were so excited to receive their parcel.

Lockie is as friendly as Minnie Mouse on Mickey Mouse clubhouse.

Spencer is cool like a tank.

Sarsha is kind like a baby bird.

Kira is small as a flower.
